Ceasefire violation in Mendhar sector

JAMMU, Mar 24: In the continued spree of cross border shelling, Indian and Pakistani armies on Monday late evening exchanged heavy artillery fire in Mendhar sector of Poonch district in Jammu division.
CNS has learnt from defence sources that Pakistan resorted to unprovoked shelling on Monday evening at about at about 10.15 PM in Mendhar sector, without any provocation.
Consolidating its positions, Indian Army replied the shelling from across the Line of Control effectively and befittingly.
Defence sources said that along with artillery fire, Pakistani forces targeted Indian positions with light arms, which was effectively returned by the Indian side.
According to defence sources, Indian Army retaliated the shelling from across the Line of Control (LoC) effectively and befittingly.
Officials in Defence Services said that Pakistan army in its continued spree of the violation of ceasefire fired shells from across the LoC on forward positions in the sector, terrifying the local population and was forced to run for cover.
There was not any report of damage or causality on either side till reports last came in.
