Army jawan killed in firing on Rajouri LoC

JAMMU, July 10: An army Havaldar was martyred in firing from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Friday.
An official said that Pakistan army resorted to firing and shelling in Kamal area shortly after midnight around 12:30 am in which Havaldar S Gurung sustained multiple splinter injuries.
"He was shifted to a facility for medical aid but he succumbed,” said an official, who didn’t wish to be named as he was not authorized to speak to media.
The body of army man has been brought to Nowshera for medico-legal formalities while police have also taken cognizance of the matter.
Lt Col Devender Anand PRO Defence in a statement said that Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation on the line of control (LoC) in Nowshera Sector, District Rajouri (J&K). Own troops responded strongly to the enemy fire. In the incident, Havildar Sambur Gurung was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries.
Havildar Sambur Gurung was a brave, highly motivated and a sincere soldier. The nation will always remain indebted to him for his supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty.
On Friday evening at about 1845 hours, Pak initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with Small Arms & shelling with Mortars along LoC in Nowshera Sector, District Rajouri(J&K). Indian Army is retaliating befittingly.
