SRINAGAR, July 10: Former union minister Prof Saif-u-Din Soz today said those thousands of residents of J&K already holding permanent resident certificates (PRCs) should not be asked to get fresh domicile certificates.
In a statement he said, "It seems to be necessary that I should reiterate my position on J&K domicile laws and say that J&K UT government's adaptation of J&K state laws procedure 2020 is absolutely redundant."
He added that there are thousands of residents of J&K, who already hold permanent resident certificates. Such people cannot and should not be asked to get fresh domicile certificates.
"In the meantime, I would once again appeal to the people of J&K to start a sustained, democratic and peaceful movement against the said government notification," Soz said.
