Hizb module busted in Ganderbal: Police

SRINAGAR, Sep 15 (Agencies): Police on Tuesday have busted a Hizbul Mujahideen module in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district.
In a statement police said that, on a reliable information that a module comprising of three youth namely Arshid Ahmad Khan son of Mohd Altaf Khan resident of WayilWuderGutlibagh, Majid Rasool Rather son of Gh Rasool Rather resident of Beehama Ganderbal and Mohd Asif Najar son of Abdul RazaqNajar resident of Beehama Ganderbal came in contact with Pakistan based militant Kashmiri Fayaz Khan, resident of ChanharGutlibagh, who tasked them to take up militant activities in the area.
The statement said that an operation was launched by joint team police station Ganderbal, PC Ganderbal and 5RR during the intervening night of September 14 and 15 and all three local youth arrested and incriminating electronic gadgets recovered, During sustained questioning the trio disclosed about possession of 3 hand grenades which were eventually recovered on their instance.
The module was instructed by their Pakistani handler to join militancy and undertake attacks on security forces in the area.
The statement further stated that in this back drop, a case FIR no. 199 of 2020 U/S 13,18 UAPA 1967 stands registered in PS Ganderbal.
SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal while deliberating on the module, underscored the fact that gullible youth of the valley are being pushed to militancy by militants operatives across the border through various social media platforms.
He said that police is taking all steps to identify and counsel such vulnerable youth. “However, it is the primary responsibility of parents also to be sensitised about such modus operandi being adopted by anti-national elements and keep watch over the activities of their wards to save them from falling prey to Pakistan based operatives.”
