RS polls on Nov 9 for 11 seats

NEW DELHI, Oct 13: The Election Commission on Tuesday announced the biennial Rajya Sabha elections on November 9 to fill up 11 seats, ten of them from Uttar Pradesh and one from Uttarakhand, that are falling vacant on November 25.
Prominent MPs who are completing their term include Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, film actor-turned former UP Congress president Raj Babbar, Samajwadi Party group leader Ramgopal Yadav, senior Congress leader P L Punia and the BJP's Neeraj Shekhar, son of late former PM Chandra Shekhar.
The poll process begins with the notification on October 20. Nominations allowed till October 27 and withdrawals till November 2, with polling, if required, on November 9. The results will be out the same day in the evening.
