Covid positivity rate down to 1.9%

NEW DELHI, Jan 13: The Covid-19 positivity rate is down to 1.9% in India while the country's recovery rate further improved to 96.51% on Wednesday, with 17,817 patients recovered in the last 24 hours.
The total number of recoveries has gone up to 101.29 lakh as against 104.95 lakh detected with the positive symptoms, 15,968 of them in the past 24 hours.
The health ministry said the actual caseload currently compries only 2.04% of the total positive cases. At 2.15 lakh cases, India continues its streak of decline in the active caseload after 197 days. A net decline of 2051 cases was recorded in the active cases in the last 24 hours.
As many as 81.83% of the recovered cases in the last 24 hours are concentrated in 10 states. Kerala has reported the maximum number of single day recoveries with 4,270 recoveries. Maharashtra follows with 3,282 new recoveries. Chhattisgarh recorded another 1,207 daily recoveries.
Kerala reported the maximum daily new cases numbering 5,507 in the last 24 hours, Maharashtra 2,936 and Karnataka 751.
Seven States/UTs account for 70.30% of the 202 case fatalities reported in the past 24 hours. Maharashtra reported 50 deaths, followed by Kerala 25, West Bengal 18 and Delhi 16.
The total number of persons found to be positive with the new UK variant genome stood at 102 on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, all eyes are now on the Covid-19 vaccination that kickstarts on Saturday.
