SRINAGAR, Feb 22: Traffic on the Pantha Chowk-Nowgam highway was halted on Monday when the Road Opening Party (ROP) found an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near Kinahama.
According to the Current News Service (CNS), the IED was installed in a tin cane, which was later defused by a team of experts from Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).
According to officials, traffic on Pantha Chowk-Nowgam road was suspended till the IED was diffused for the safety of the people.
The incident took place on the same day in Kashmir when train service resumed after a period of 11 months.
The traffic services were suspended as a precautionary measure to avoid the damage to the life and property.
It is pertinent to mention that the Jammu and Kashmir police has strengthened the security grid in the whole valley especially in Srinagar following the Barzulla attack on Friday in which two policemen lost their lives by the hands of LeT militants.
Following the recent militant attack police and other security agencies have also decided to carry out instant crackdowns like the one at Hari Singh High Street in Srinagar on Monday.
