Manmohan rushed to AIIMS

NEW DELHI, Oct 13: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who turned 89 only last month, was hospitalised in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here Wednesday evening on complaint of fever and weakness.

He was complaining of mild fever since Tuesday. His condition in the institute was described as stable. He is being administered vital fluids. He was admitted at 6.15 PM on Wednesday. The Congress sources said he was admitted for better medical care and recovery.

He has been taken to the Cardio-Neuro Tower at AIIMS and is under the care of Dr Nitish Nayak, a professor of cardiology. He is undergoing some medical tests.

Earlier in April this year, he was admitted to AIIMS after testing Covid-19 positive during the second wave of infections. He recovered after facing mild symptoms of the virus. A Congress veteran, Dr Manmohan Singh is a Congress member of the Rajya Sabha.

In May 2020, the former prime minister had been admitted to AIIMS, Delhi after he experienced chest congestion. He was under the care of Dr Nitish Nayak then too. In 2009, Manmohan Singh underwent a successful coronary bypass surgery at AIIMS in Delhi.
