MUMBAI, July 8 : Indian women's team T-20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur who is working as DSP (Deputy Police Superintendent) with Punjab Police and alleged to be having her graduation certificate to be "fake" will meet the Chief Minister (Punjab) Capt. Amarinder Singh.
This was revealed by her father Harmander Singh Bhullar and her childhood coach Yaduvinder Singh Sodhi.
Speaking exclusively over telephone from Punjab, the dad says, "we are upset with this controversy. If her graduation certificate was fake, how did she serve in Indian railways ?".
Harman was an OS (Office Superintendent) with Railways (Basic grade : 4200).
"The job in Police department was offered by the Chief Minister and my daughter will meet him".
Her childhood coach, Sodhi, now settled in Australia, said, "she will meet (the CM) definitely".
Explaining the sequence of the "fake" certificate, he says, "after Harman did her high school, she got admission in Julundhar. Due to cricket schedule she usually missed her exams. The coach from Amritsar guided her to go for the Meerut University exams as they are flexible and she can give exams when ever she gets time".
"She went to Delhi with that coach to give exams . And later she got admission in HMV college in Post-Graduation Diploma course and played for Guru Nanak University".
"Unfortunately the overseas tour couldn't help her to complete that diploma. But she has the proof that she was admitted there .Got job in railways on the basis of this degree...and she herself was not aware that this degree will not be verified".
"Had she known, she could have done degree in these 8 years. The coach misguided her as most of the coaches do to make the players play for their college or university.and now she is suffering", he added.
"She will declare this in her press conference soon...Department has told her to stay clam till they go onto any decision", the coach signed off.
