SRINAGAR, Oct 9: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today rejected as ‘farce’ the ‘utterance’ of Governor Satyapal Malik that PDP is regretting its decision of boycotting ULB and Panchayat elections.
Talking to reporters, PDP Chief Spokesman, Rafi Ahmad Mir while rejecting Governor’s statement said that his party won’t regret its decision of boycotting elections as the situation state witnesses at present was not feasible for the same.
“We took the right decision; the low turnover of voters yesterday vindicated our stand, I reiterate that holding elections in present circumstances is mockery of democratic process,” said Mir.
Commenting on the speculations regarding NC-PDP alliance, he said NC rejected the offer of civil society which is the stakeholder bearing great significance in the society.
“This was civil society’s suggestion that NC and PDP should form an alliance, but NC rejected this suggestion so one cannot move forward until one gets positive response from the other side,” he added.
Without naming Hurriyat, Mir said those who disagree with mainstream politics should be convinced for talks to find lasting solution to the vexed Kashmir issue. Mir asked both mainstream and separatist groups to come make tangible steps toward the resolution of Kashmir issue.
“All the leaders should come forward and find a way out to resolve political issue which is pending for the past seventy years. Those who differ with us should be convinced and bring on the table to find lasting solution of the issue and the issues confronting people,” Mir added.
He said the leaders instead of allegations and counter allegations should work for Kashmir solution.
