MHA should file review at SC

Kashmir Times. Dated: 11/6/2018 12:18:48 AM

Dear Editor,
It refers to CIC-verdict dated 22.10.2018 in file-number CIC/MHOME/C/2017/176001 wherein Central Information Commission could not allow disclosure of annexures to report of NN Vohra Committee set up in July 1993 to check criminalisation of politics with its report submitted on 05.10.1993, because of a Supreme Court verdict dated 20.03.1997 in Writ Petition Civil number 664-1995 titled Dinesh Trivedi, M.P. versus Union of India where the Apex Court disallowed disclosure of annexures.
Surprisingly even though the matter reached to CIC a number of times, officials of Union Home Ministry unaware of Supreme Court verdict, instead always pleading that annexures were never submitted to MHA with the report. Considering an era-change with video-clippings of top politicians viral favouring criminals being given party-tickets on basis of their capability to win overlooking their criminal records, Union government should file a review-petition at Supreme Court to allow making annexures to report of NN Vohra committee public.
