SRINAGAR, Nov 5: National Conference ( NC) president Dr. Farooq Abdullah visited the shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom (RA) to offer his obeisance on the annual Urs observance.
According to a press note, Dr Farooq prayed for everlasting peace and harmony in the state. “People of Jammu and Kashmir have always benefited from the teachings of great saints who educated the masses here with Quran and other virtues,” he said.
NC president said Kashmir is known for being the cradle of sages and saints in every age. “More than four centuries have passed down the line of history yet people come and receive spiritual bliss at these centers. Sufism is the inner soul of Islam and Sufis took it upon themselves to embalm the poor and miserable keeping in with the traditions of Islam,” he said.
Dr Farooq said the need of the hour is to inculcate and educate new generation about the life and history of such saints. “The message of such great souls is for all ages to imbibe. I greet people on the Urs observance and pray to almighty to salvage us out from the current turbulent times,” he said.
