JRL calls for shutdown on Feb 9, 11

SRINAGAR, Feb 7: The joint resistance leadership (JRL) has called for complete protest shutdown on February 11 and 9 to mark the hanging anniversaries of Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru respectively.
"The struggle and sacrifices rendered by great leader of Kashmiri freedom struggle Mohammad Maqbool Butt and son of Kashmir Mohammad Afazl Guru are glorious chapter of our resistance history," said the JRL, in a statement. "Indian government not only hanged these Kashmiris at the gallows but also kept their mortal remains under its custody till now."
The JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik said the struggle, passion for freedom and sacrifices of these great Kashmiris will always remain a beacon light for Kashmiri nation.
"On 10th February, prayers will be held in all main Masajid for them," said the JRL.
They said a protest demonstration will be held at Lal Chowk Srinagar demanding the return of mortal remains of Butt and Guru.
"A memorandum will also be sent to UN secretary general, demanding for the return of mortal remains of Mohammad Maqbool Butt and Mohammad Afzal Guru," they said.
