Thousands protest in Kargil, demand rotational Div HQ

SRINAGAR, Feb 10: Thousands of people today held protest demonstration in Kargil and took out a march demanding rotational basis divisional headquarter for Leh and Kargil.
Reports said people of Kargil assembled at Islamia School Chowk under the leadership of all religious, political and social organization and marched towards Baroo Kargil to protest the sanctioning of the fixed headquarters for newly created Ladakh division at Leh.
The protesters were chanting slogans like "we want justice" and "headquarter at Leh and Kargil on rotational basis."
This was for the first time that all religious organizations, including, Anjuman Jamiyat Ullama Isna Ashirya Kargil, Imama Khomenie Memorial Trust Kargil, Anjuman Shabe Zaman Kargil, Ahlae Sunnat Wal Jamait Kargil, Anjuman Sofia Noorbaksha, minority communities, Sikh, Hindu and Buddhist and all political parties, even acting CEC LAHDC Kargil, Nasir Hussain Munshi came at one platform and protested in one voice.
The speakers, while interacting with the protesters said this order has for the first time united all the stake holders of Kargil Ladakh and this wave will not stop till the decision is revoked and the headquarter of the division made on rotational basis- six months of summer in Kargil and six months of winter in Leh.
Acting CEC Nasir Hussain Munshi said council will lead and start a civil disobedience movement against SRO 110 till the decision is not revoked. He requested the governor administion to reconsider and revoke the decision and modify SRO 110.
Youth Action Committee Kargil Ladakh called a press conference during which they supported the mass movement.
