Shrine Board Sports Festival

JAMMU, Mar 9: On the second and final day of the Sports meet organised by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board at Sports Complex, Katra as part of International women’s day, the final matches in the age group 21-25 years and 18-21 years were played in Badminton section
Anshta Gupta remained winner and Kanika Singh as runners up in 21-25 years category. Kanika Sharma Winner Akriti Runners up in 18-21 years category.
Simrandeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer SMVDSB was the Chief Guest on the concluding function who also gave away trophies to the winners and runners up teams in various events like Tug of War, Basketball, Athletics, Rifle Shooting and Walk etc.
While interacting with the participants, he said women have always played a constructive role in the family, in the society and also towards building the nation. Today there is hardly any field of human development and research where women have not contributed immensely.
He appreciated the active and healthy participation of women in Sports allied competitions during the said Sports festival, he congratulated the winners, runners up teams and all participants during two days sports festival.
On this occasion, four outstanding Sports Persons of the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex coaching centre and SMVD University were presented Mementoes as token of appreciation and honour. The Sports persons who were honoured by the Chief Guest included Shruti in Shooting. Radhika in Basketball, Tanvi in Athletics, Sunaina in Archery all from Shrine Board’s Sports Complex Coaching centre. Kanika in Badminton from SMVD University.
Mokshi an employee of the Shrine Board was adjusted best all-rounder and was honoured with the trophy by the chief guest. He later on declared the sports festival closed.
Earlier, Ashok Kumar Director Sports extended welcome and gave resume of Sports activities and various programmes organised by the Shrine Board with coverage of more than 6 thousand students and non-student youths. He also give detail of the future events like federation Cup Wushu, Lawn Tennis and Kabadi championship to be organised in near future in Shrine Board’s Sports Complex.
Those who were present on the occasion were Rajinder Mangotra, Sushma Rajput, Coaches & Employees of the Shrine Board.
