Shutdown in Bhaderwah over 1990 civilian killings

BHADERWAH, Apr 13: A complete bandh was observed by majority community in Bhaderwah on the call given by Anjuman Islamia Bhaderwah on Saturday in memory of those killed in 1990.
Normal life was paralysed in Bhaderwah as all the shops and other businesses establishments of majority community remained closed for the day. The Bandh was observed by particular community to remember the civilian killings on this day in 1990.
Pervez Ahmed Sheikh, president Anjuman Islamia Bhaderwah said. “Today's shutdown is being observed to remember those killed in 1990. This was the darkest day in the history of Bhaderwah as on this particular day in 1990 peaceful protesters were fired upon by security forces and some religious fanatics killed several innocent people at Seri Bazaar Bhaderwah. We can never forget those innocent people who sacrificed their lives on this day.”
As precautionary major, extra security deployment was made in Bhaderwah town and its peripheral areas but Bandh passed off peacefully and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere.
