JAMMU, June 6: Bhartiya Janata Party State spokesman Altaf Thakur while strongly seconding the union home ministry's proposal of going for delimitation of Assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir today stated that the step will end regional discrimination as all regions will get equal share in the State legislative Assembly.
In a statement issued here, Thakur said Jammu region has 31 lakh voters while Kashmir has 29 lakh and similarly Ladakh region of the state too has been facing disparity as far as the number of Assembly seats are concerned.
He said the opposing the delimitation has only benefited and served the interests of regional parties who through their dynasty politics only filled their personal coffers and left state suffer on developmental front.
Thakur said that once the delimitation is done, Jammu and Kashmir will see regional balance and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for sab ka saath , sab ka vikaas will get fulfilled. He said the union home minster's plan to go for delimitaion was to ensure equitable development of all three regions and to end disparity.
Thakur said BJP's sole agenda was to take people along and to give Jammu and Kashmir a new direction on developmental fronts and for that delimitation is need of the hour.
