Zorawar Singh remembered by Shri Amar Kshatriya Sabha

JAMMU, June 6: Dharam Jagran Samanbey in collaboration with Shri Amar Kshatriya (Rajput) Sabha J&K is organising a great function to commemorate “General Zorawar Singh “a great warrior” for his valour in extending the boundaries of India t Teachers Convention Hall Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
Zorawar Singh was General in the Indian Subcontinent and was subordinate to Gulab Singh. Born in Hindu Family in 1784, in village Ansar of Himachal Pardesh. His family migrated to Jammu region. General Zorawar Singh was employed by ambitious Raja Gulab Singh and placed under the Command of Reasi Fort (Bhim Garh). He Conquered Paddar Area which was part of Himachal Pardesh and annexed with J&K State. Gulab Singh appointed Zorawar Singh as “Hakim” of Kishtwar, which was a Gate Way of Himalayas Kingdom of Ladakh. After annexing ladakh, General Zorawar Singh turned his attention towards “BALTISTAN”. He organized Force of Ladakh and captured “SKARDU” without much fight.
General Zorawar Singh under took his lost and final campaign against “TIBAT” which turned out to be fatal for him and disastrous for the Dogra Expansion Plan. He attained martyrdom in 1841 in Tibet.
