2 way traffic for LMVs plies on Srinagar-Jammu highway

SRINAGAR, Jun 7: Two way traffic for light motor vehicles( LMVs) re-started on Srinagar-Jammu national highway today. However, one way traffic will continue for heavy motor vehicles( HMVs).
Only one-way traffic is allowed on historic 86-km-long Mughal road, which is seen as alternative to Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
Two-way traffic continued to ply on the national highway, linking Ladakh region with Kashmir with some restrictions.
Traffic officials said that LMVs plied from both Srinagar and Jammu today. However, vehicles had to leave Jakheni Udhampur from 8 AM to 2 PM. From Zig Qazigund, vehicles had to leave between 7 AM to 2 PM.
He said HMVs continued to ply from one-way only. Today, vehicles plied from Srinagar to Jammu only and no HMV was be allowed from opposite direction. Vehicles had to leave Qazigund from 6 PM to 4 AM of Saturday.
He said that only one-way traffic continued to ply on Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region.
Today only Kashmir bound vehicles were allowed to ply, he said, adding that LMVs had to leave Behramgalla from 5 AM to 9 AM and HMVs from 9 AM to 3 PM. No vehicle was allowed from opposite direction and after the deadline.
Both way traffic plied on Srinagar-Leh National Highway, he said. However, Kashmir-bound vehicles will ply from 7AM to 1200 hrs from Minimarg.
Later in the afternoon from 1200 hrs to 3 PM, vehicle plied from Sonamarg to other side of the Zojila pass.
