20 pilgrims injured in Anantnag bus accident

JAMMU, July 6: At least 20 Amarnath pilgrims, including women, were injured on Saturday when two buses collided in the Hernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Reports said that two buses bearing registration numbers RJ01TA- 3523 and UP83AT-7777 rammed into each other at Hernag at around 2:20 pm.
Twenty persons, including several women, suffered injuries and were immediately rescued and evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment. Two pilgrims suffered serious injuries and are undergoing treatment at the health facility.
A police officer also confirmed the incident and said that the injured pilgrims belong to Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. He said that 18 pilgrims suffered minor injuries and two others serious.
Meanwhile, a police constable has been arrested for allegedly recording the video of women devotees taking bath in a camp of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.
Constable Tariq Ahmed, serving in the 19th battalion of the Indian Reserve Police, was arrested on Friday and a case under Section 354 (intent to outrage the modesty of women) of the Ranbir Penal Code was registered against him at Trikuta Nagar Police station in Jammu.
Tariq Ahmed was later released on bail.
According to police, Tariq Ahmed used his mobile phone to secretly film the women inside the bathroom of a railway station camp on Wednesday night.
The women raised an alarm and people overpowered him and handed him to the police who formally arrested him and seized his mobile.
