Few houses damaged in Degwar

POONCH, Oct 7: Pakistan consecutively for the second day shelled forward Indian border posts and villages on the Line of Control in Degwar sector of Poonch district on Monday.
Army spokesperson, while confirming ceasefire violation, said, “Pakistan violated ceasefire by resorting to heavy mortar shelling and firing along the LoC in Degwar sector of Poonch district.”
Police said that this evening at around 4.03 PM, Pakistani army opened unprovoked fire on civilian areas and Indian forward posts along LoC in Degwar sector which continued till late evening.
SSP Poonch Ramesh Kumar Angral said, “Pak army is using both light and heavy weapons. There was exchange of fire with small arms, mortars. So far there was no report of any damage on our side.”
Mohammed Zubair, a local said, “Pakistani army resorted to small arms firing targetting villages along the Line of Control in Degwar sector of Poonch district. This evening all of a sudden Pakistani army resorted to heavy shelling targetting our village. The shelling has created a sense of insecurity among villagers as we did not have sufficient numbers of bunkers.” He stated that few houses in Degwar had suffered damages.
