Annexures of NN Vohra committee should be made public to expose politicians having nexus with underworld

Dear Editor,
It refers to welcome Supreme Court verdict stipulating strict guidelines and requirements to effectively check criminalization of politics at a time when vast majority of elected representatives cutting across party-lines have criminal background. Unfortunately despite reports of various commissions formed at heavy public-cost for checking entry of criminals in politics, no central government took any initiative to check the big political menace, making Supreme Court to fix responsibility of complying its verdict on Election Commission where now political parties will now onwards provide reasons also for giving party-tickets to criminals, indeed a difficult task for political parties.
Central government should step further by approaching Supreme Court for reversing its verdict for not making public annexures to NN Vohra Committee set up to study nexus of politicians with underworld elements. Interestingly RTI response reveals that officers of Union Home Ministry even do not know that there were annexures to report of NN Vohra committee and that Supreme Court at that time permanently restrained central government from making sad annexures public.
