Valley schools reopen after 3 months winter vacations

SRINAGAR, Feb 24: All schools up to higher secondary level reopened on Monday across Kashmir after three months winter vacation.
Prior to that educational institutions remained closed for more than three months post abrogation of the special constitutional position of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 last year.
Amid exhilaration, children attended classes after the authorities announced reopening of schools up to higher secondary level in Kashmir. Parents were also happy to send their wards to schools which remained closed for month’s altogether for obvious reasons after August 5, 2019.
Dressed in colored uniforms, children were visibly enthusiastic to join schools first time after the authorities announced winter vacations in Kashmir on December 21 last year.
It is pertinent to mention that educational institutions across valley remained closed for more than three months after centre took major decision on Jammu and Kashmir last year. Students were reluctant to go to schools even as the authorities announced reopening of schools in September last year.
Reports said some schools in north Kashmir remained closed due to snow which led to the closure of roads leading to these schools. However the officials said that snow will be cleared from roads so as to make students to join schools without any hindrance.
“I am very happy and at the same time excited to meet my friends whom I have not seen for months. Since weather has considerably improved in Kashmir, children would love to go schools,” said Naila Ishfaq a 10th class student.
Children at respective bus stops could be seen waiting for buses in the morning to reach their schools amid cold weather conditions. Some parents who had accompanied their children to bus stops said they are equally happy for reopening of schools in Kashmir.
Schools in other parts of the valley including north and south Kashmir were also reopened after three months winter vacation with students likewise other districts of the valley enthusiastic to join classes.
