Missing domestic help suspected to be prime accused

JAMMU, Feb 24: In a shocking incident, senior lawyer Riyaz Ahmed Buchh, the husband of Power Development Department's retired Chief Engineer Shehnaz Goni, was found murdered, allegedly by his domestic help at his residence in Greater Kailash area on the outskirts of Jammu city Monday morning.
Buchh, 65, son in-law of former Member parliament Abdul Gani Loni and brother-in-law of former Advocate General of J&K Aslam Goni, was alone at his place when he was allegedly murdered by his domestic help, who is missing with victim’s car and other valuables.
“Buchh's wife Shehnaz is presently in the USA to attend a marriage of her close relative. His daughter, herself a doctor, who is expecting her baby, also lives in Jammu but she was at her husband’s house and his entrepreneur son was in Mumbai. He is on his way to Jammu,” a relative of the deceased told KTNS.
A senior police officer, who did not wish to be named, told KTNS that as per preliminary investigation, the needle of suspicion revolved around non-local family servant Deepak Chouhan. “Riyaz Ahmed Buchh, son of Mohammad Ali of Forest Lodge Lane-16 Greater Kailash, Jammu was found dead this morning at his residence.
After getting this news, police immediately rushed to his place. Seemingly he was attacked by his domestic help identified as Deepak Chouhan, who is a resident of Bilaspur and is presently living in Bishnah.”
“Buchh was hit on the head. Family servant Deepak is suspected to be the prime accused. Whether he was alone or there were one or more persons involved in this crime, cannot be said with certainty at present as investigation is underway. But after committing the heinous crime, Deepak is missing with victim’s car and other valuables.
A murder case has been registered and further investigation is on to bring the culprit to book. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the accused,” he said. He added that the police, in the meanwhile, had sent victim’s body for post-mortem.
“Preliminary investigations suggest the deceased had a scuffle with his killer before he was apparently strangulated to death. His body also bore visible injury marks. The CCTV at the house was also found damaged. It seemed to be the handiwork of Deepak, who was engaged by the family a few months ago through a private placement agency. Probably he damaged the CCTV footage before taking away car and some other valuables, indicating theft as the motive behind the murder,” a police officer informed.
In the meanwhile, the police gathered CCTV footage from nearby houses wherein a car can be seen coming out from the gate at around 12.36 AM. Riyaz has remained as president of Sales Tax Bar.
