A.G.Noorani exposes the RSS strategies: “The intensification of Hindutva has acted, as intended by its followers, to divert attention from the fact that almost half the population of India is at or below poverty line and is denied even the most basic rights and amenities. Instead of working towards providing these rights and amenities to the tribals and the Dalits, the focus has been shifted to the irrelevant question of the right to convert.”

Humra Quraishi

Was it the prime minister of a democracy or a Pracharak coming out with those communally charged electioneering speeches? Terribly shocking. But as I have been writing all along nothing really shocks one in these dark fascist times. I’m just too fed up hearing hateful biased comments about the Muslim community, coupled with the bogus nonsense! None of those unleashes based on facts, but on sheer hate-laced propaganda and twisted backgrounders… Utter lies, to put it in a nutshell. The prime minister of the country ought to know the basic facts to the Muslim community, about their survival rate before coming up with communally charged hateful comments about their reproduction rate. Provocative unleashes to say the least. Out to cause hate and friction and divides between communities.  Shouldn’t there be complete halt to these provocative speeches before riots or clashes or civil strife break out; and the masses of this country start killing and kicking each other!

I cannot but help but describe the poisonous unleash by the BJP-RSS, as ‘raping’ of psyches on a mass scale, in the backdrop of divides along communal lines, myths and misconceptions and twisted notions in circulation, blatant biases against the Muslims in the very governance. Above all, the mounting danger of the demolition of the very ethos cum fabric, as the Right-Wing is spreading its fangs, intruding into everyday life and living. It may sound harsh but this is the harsh truth of the times we are living in.

Though images of   the Babri Masjid destruction and Gujarat pogrom cannot be erased but they seem to be getting compounded by the daily round of humiliation that an Indian Muslim is going through in these recent times. Dark realities have begun to gnaw, nudging many to say – “Har haal mein hamare lia musibat… marna yaa zinda rahna hai isse zameen  par.” (Under any of the circumstances it’s getting tough …but we got to die or survive here, on this land.)

Along with the Muslim community, endless verbal attacks on the Indian National Congress by the Right-Wing politicians, at the election rallies. As though determined to twist facts and cause confusion and friction… It seems Hindutva men and women haven’t a clue to the historic facts to the Congress and the erstwhile national level leaders. Can you imagine BJP’s Kangana Ranaut mouthing with such confidence that Subhas Chandra Bose was the first prime minister of India! Mind you, getting away with that!

Don’t the Right-Wing politicians want to dwell on the dark realities spreading out, right in front of our eyes. It’s all too dismal. With the everyday survival of the masses at stake. Yes, with very little to eat, lack of clean drinking water, shrinkage of jobs, soaring prices, corruption as never before, unsettling of the age-old traditions cum norms, spread of poisonous propaganda, climatic disasters… It’s indeed a very, very worrying situation.

I sit anguished and apprehensive. Wondering what’s in store …what’s next… what lies ahead …how dark would the shades of gloom get, as fascist forces go about unleashing poisonous propaganda. Perhaps, it would be naive to expect anything else but these build ups, as the Hindutva Agenda is in full-swing. Camouflages off. Stark realities stare… Today it is not a question of Hindus or Muslims or Christians, but fascist forces versus the saner element. Sanghis versus the non-Sanghis!

To quote veteran writer A.G.Noorani from his book – ‘The RSS – A Menace To India’ (Left Word): “India is battling for its very soul… The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is the most powerful organization in India today; complete with a private army of its own, unquestionably obeying its leader who functions on fascist lines on the Fuehrer principle… The RSS is at war with India’s past. It belittles three of the greatest builders of the Indian State – Ashoka, the Buddhist; Akbar; the Muslim; and Nehru, a civilized Enlightened Hindu. It would wipe out centuries of achievement for which the world has acclaimed India and replace that with its own narrow, divisive ideology.”

Noorani exposes the RSS strategies: “The intensification of Hindutva has acted, as intended by its followers, to divert attention from the fact that almost half the population of India is at or below poverty line and is denied even the most basic rights and amenities. Instead of working towards providing these rights and amenities to the Tribals and the Dalits, the focus has been shifted to the irrelevant question of the right to convert. The hype surrounding the issue of which Indians are indigenous and which are foreign, basing this identity on the false premise of whether they follow a religion which is indigenous to the subcontinent or is west Asian in origin, has led to the most inhuman and unethical behaviour on the part of groups claiming to defend Hinduism and is directed towards those labelled as Muslims and   Christians.”

BEBAAK BHASHA!

Perhaps, just about the only ray of hope from the political mess, is the fact that many individuals have taken on the Right-Wing politicians… determined to halt political anarchy hitting this country. Several brave gutsy journalists are ongoing in their crusade to take on the grim situation spreading out.  One such journalist is Bhasha Singh who’d earlier this year launched her own YouTube channel – Bebaak Bhasha. And she speaks out in that fearless way.  No beating around the bush. No huge running commentaries. But sheer facts and more facts. The Hindustani (mix of Hindi and Urdu) she uses to communicate seems perfect for that essential connectivity with the viewers. I do make it a point to view her channel on a regular basis. As in that short expanse one is made aware of the ground realities, whether here in New Delhi or in Manipur or Telangana or America… Bhasha Singh is indeed brave and gutsy to take on the Right-Wing rulers of the day. Mind you, her arguments based on facts and more facts!

WARDAH KHAN – WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT HEARING HER TWO PARTICULAR ANSWERS IN THE MOCK INTERVIEW, WITH DEEPAK VOHRA!

Former diplomat DeepakVohra’s two particular questions put to UPSC candidate Wardah Khan in the mock interview, brought forth answers from her which could be termed towing the government line. That is, even before she was selected for the civil services, this year, in 2024.

When he asked her what she thought of the Uniform Civil Code she seemed all for it, without detailing or going into the drawbacks or the controversies or the loopholes or the political Agenda involved in its implementation. Then, he asked her to comment on any of the drawbacks to her religion – Islam. She replied words along the strain of women rights… I think Wardah Khan needs to know that all possible rights are there for the women in Islam but the tragedy is that we are not made aware of those rights. We don’t bother to educate ourselves in the actual sense of the term. We don’t bother to go beyond the hearsay and mischievous notions and myths and misconceptions. We don’t bother to break through the propaganda and grasp the actual facts for ourselves. Sad reality of the day.
