Indian Journalism Mired in Crisis: Siddharth Vardarajan
“Indian journalism is mired in deep crisis. At a time when the country needs the media most, it has lost its anchor and drifting endlessly,” said Siddharth Vardarajan, the Founding Editor of the Wire.
In this lecture, he talks about the significance and responsibilities of journalism, and discusses the stress points and challenges before media in India while connecting them to the political and institutional challenges that India is confronting.
The lecture was delivered on Ved Bhasin First Memorial Lecture, organized on his 87th birth anniversary, a few months after his death on May 1 2016. We are reproducing this lecture which remains relevant in the present times.
