JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two persons for allegedly commenting about Babri mosque demolition and the inauguration of Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, The Telegraph reported on Friday.
Six persons in various parts of Jammu province have been booked for allegedly uploading inflammatory content on social media. The cases have been filed in the districts of Reasi, Ramban, Rajouri and Kathua in the Jammu division.

The report maintained that the other arrested person was a female undergraduate student but added that her family denied her arrest. They, however, admitted that she had been booked in the case.
According to the report, the relative said the girl was a cousin of Zaffar and the two had posted some comments on the razed Babri Masjid. “They were angry over the Babri Masjid’s demolition and construction of a temple at the place,” he is reported to have said.
The police said a case was registered against Zaffar and the other youths at Nagrota police station following a complaint from a resident, who is from another community.
Multiple cases have also been filed in Reasi, Ramban, Rajouri and Kathua districts of the Jammu division.
Reasi district police said that they had registered two FIRs and arrested three persons for posting objectionable content on social media platforms.
“Acting promptly on directions of SSP Reasi Sh. Amit Gupta-JKPS, FIR No. 19/2024 U/S 295-A IPC (outraging religious feelings) has been registered at Police Station, Reasi and FIR No. 04/2024 U/S 295-A IPC of the law has been registered at Police Station Arnas,” the police said.
The police in Reasi urged citizens not to post anything on social media that may disturb peace and harmony.
“All the social media platforms are under watch and all posts/comments will be monitored,” the police said. “Strict action will be taken against the person who will post anything that is provocative and spread hatred.”
